The African American Health Program and community partners invites Montgomery County leaders, families, and friends to Wheaton Regional Park on Saturday, October 18 from 10 AM to 2 PM for The Park Goes Pink, a vibrant community celebration of breast cancer awareness. The park will light up in pink as we come together to stand with Black women and everyone touched by this disease.
Attendees can expect live music, tasty food, games, and hands-on activities for all ages. They can also connect with trusted health partners, pick up practical resources, and leave with clear next steps for themselves and their families. Pink attire, neighbor turnout, and collective participation turn the park into a lively show of support.
This gathering is about action as much as awareness. African American women in Montgomery County face a 40 percent higher mortality rate and are more likely to receive later-stage diagnoses. When the community shows up, people get informed earlier, connect to screening and support, and build momentum that lasts beyond one day. Secure your spot and be part of a countywide push for earlier detection and stronger outcomes.
