The Book of Styles Battle honors, respects, and centers equally the multiple perspectives, traditions, and cultures that developed out of the Boogaloo Movement & Dance from Oakland in the 1960’s. As Boogaloo spread to the surrounding cities, it evolved, and was re-imagined based on the culture and spirit of the people in each location. The names of these African American Traditional Dance Forms are Boogaloo, Struttin, Robottin, Popping, Pop Locking, Bopping, Electric Boogie, Smurf Dance, Body Popping, etc
