GreenWheaton, associated with the Mid-County Regional Center will host their first “Green Drinks” at the Royal Mile Pub at 2407 Price Avenue in downtown Wheaton, MD. This GreenWheaton effort is part of the ongoing and thriving conversation among residents and businesses on the challenges and rewards of going green in Wheaton. All Montgomery County residents are invited and welcome to attend this exciting opportunity to share their thoughts in an atmosphere of one of Wheaton's own pubs.  For more information, visit: www.greendrinks.org/Press

The Royal Mile Pub has been nestled in downtown Wheaton for more than 20 years. In the tradition of Scottish pubs before them, the Royal Mile Pub has a strong focus on their surrounding community. The Pub offers a familiar, enjoyable and fun atmosphere for all - customers and staff. For more information on the Royal Mile Pub, check out www.royalmilepub.com.

On your way to the Royal Mile Pub, please be sure to visit the new Conservation Rainscape Garden planted by local residents in the Wheaton Triangle (opposite 2424 Reedie Drive). Also, thank the local chess players nearby who watch over the garden and make sure it continues to thrive. The garden is in full bloom with Maryland Native Plants that you, too, can plant in your own backyard or window planter box. The Rainscape Garden captures some of the rainfall that the native plants help absorb instead of diverting the storm water runoff into the nearest storm drain where it would mix with litter, oil residue and other pollutants and contribute to the ongoing destruction of Sligo Creek and other local streams that are part of the larger Chesapeake Bay watershed. To learn more about the long-term environmental benefits of Native Plants, rain barrels, composting and more, please visit Montgomery County’s RainScapes Program on-line here.

The GreenWheaton Sustainable Initiatives Workgroup is a joint sub-committee of the Wheaton Redevelopment Advisory Committee (WRAC) and the Wheaton Urban District Advisory Committee (WUDAC) dedicated to applying environmentally-friendly building, site design and planning techniques to the Wheaton Maryland downtown and surrounding neighborhoods.
